another last night affair

yet another Last Night in Istanbul, yet another Last Night to spend with parents for a while..
yet another Last Night affair..

however, things are different now..
I am not packing like crazy, putting everything I will miss in my luggage..
Instead I am putting small luggages into bigger ones, using space and just taking 2 skinny jeans and maybe a sweater.. yes, that is it!
how come?

I believe more of you know that I am moving back to Istanbul than any of my friends' do.
none of them do except for Ali and a couple of girl friends and ofcourse "my baby" and our friends..

but from DC: none!

I feel really weird.. I feel not as myself today.. because I don't have that feeling I usually have when I go to the states..
I am not anxious.. I am not rushing from one room to another.. I am just plain..
Plain doing nothing.. and writing a post..

I look at my saying goodbye post from last August.. a post about yet another last night in Istanbul..
things are different.. I believe you can feel the difference even in my words..

January 5, 2011

I had my BIG interview/meeting yesterday that I told you so little about... as you might know - I recently graduated from college and am looking for a job..
My plans has always been to stay in the States, close to "my baby", and trying to make a career..
but I got this phone call a couple of weeks ago that changed my plans..

I went in around 2:30 and got out close to 5:00pm...

I met 4 wonderful people; whom I will be working with, if I get the job.. I really liked them and I hope they feel the same way with me..

Interviews are really stressful, especially if you are just out of college and have little experience with it..
I never know how to sit, what to say and not to say... I find it easier to be myself and open up..
{I might have opened up too much-maybe}

however.. in conclusion... I am more than excited...

not many of my friends in DC know the consequences of me getting this job.. they don't know that I plan to move back to Turkey; and I doubt that they read this blog.. but once I tell them- I hope they will be happy for me.. it is really hard for me to think about leaving all of them behind.. let alone I have to do it..

in my interview a gentleman asked me why my blog was the bestest blog ever?
the answer I believe is because it is mine..
I try to think of it as a best because I write genuinely and I hope you feel that way too..
it might not be the bestest blog for you - but for me - it is!

P.S- I wish I was here: right now!

hurrem sultan

I am loving this December 2010 issue of Vogue Turkey..
and I am loving this modern day twist to the Ottoman garments..

How chic, fun and enchanting it seems to have belly dancers dance for you?
while you wear golden jewelry, have an amazing closet and all you need to do is enjoy..

new year resolutions..

as hours left to starting a new year.. 2011.. I have to make some new year resolutions like everyone else..

I am going thru some changes in my life..
some possible space and time differences are going to be in my life..
(a change of city, continent to even make it more obvious to you)
I might not be in the states after February and may move back to Istanbul due to my recent graduation and the need of work..
so my new years resolutions are guided by my mixed feelings and confused mind.. so please bare with me..

1. Happiness
I want the happiness I felt all year and more if possible around me and my loved ones..
I want to be able to smile everyday, laugh and enjoy life..
and never forget that:

2.Love
I want to continue to be in love, stay in love and have ''my baby'' be in love with me too..
I wish to see more couples around, more love in the air..
I want to make myself and him happy..

3. Weight/Health
My recent gain weght is causing me problems.. I do not feel healthy.. I just feel heavy..
I want to loose all the weight that I have gained.. and be more fit and healthy than ever..
4. Success
either with my possible new job or somethişng else, I want to be successful.. I want to make myself proud.. I want to make my parents proud..
I believe this is going to be my life with an extra ''my baby'' thoughts in it..
5.Seeking Happiness
I want to inspired and continue to be inspired of my fellow bloggers..
I wish I could reach more followers and have more comments on this blog..
I wish to find my own voice and never be afraid to use it!
6.Flowers
I want to have flowers in my room everyday.. I want to smell the freshness, the life out of them..
I want to feel like butterflies
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERY ONE!
I HOPE WE ALL HAVE A MORE PEACEFUL YEAR, FILLED WITH LOVE, JOY AND LAUGHTER..

christmas dinner/life

As soon as we landed and got out of customs, I saw my parents for barely 5 mins.
They had to go and get ready for the dinner party they were throwing for their friends.
I had to go home, take a shower, get dressed, make-up etc. and then go to the restaurant to meet them.
and I did.
I came home and did all that...

I was able to pull the night off because I had an amazing 8 hour sleep on the plane (maybe first in years)
since I took a tiny pill to make me sleep - It really works.

having my dark hair and bangs.. people say I look like a new person..

we drank amazing red wines all throughout dinner,
had an amazing time, loud laughs and a lot of conversation

it feels quite different to be back home and not to worry about grades.
oh by the way its 6:42am here.. which makes it 11:48pm in DC.
first morning- and i believe I am jet-laged. (I slept around 2, which makes it hard to believe that I got any rest)
i need my white mocha to wake-up properly.. i feel in hibernate mood..

hope everyone has a happy holiday..
see you soon!

festival

i must have told you that we went to this TURKISH FESTIVAL in DC a while ago..
I had different expectations on the concept and how it would be..
however, it was not bad at all..
i never imagined there would be so much Turkish people in or around DC..
"turks are every where"they say - it is so true, we are!

saying goodbye

today is my last day in Istanbul, tomorrow I have a flight to JFK then to DC.
I had to say my goodbyes.. so we went to my grandma's.. I saw my grandpa; who is sick..
and my wonderful, and lovely grandma.. who is the most kind, loving, good person I know..
she made me some plates that I love and miss when I am away.. she has been doing this for the past week..
its harder to say goodbye to the elders.. time just passes so quickly that I think we take them for granted.
I wish I had spent more time with my grandfather before.. now he just does no remember me- because he has Alzheimer..
it is just hard, to see the eldest in your family to become a baby, right in front of your eyes. the person who loves you a lot, to not remember you when you kiss him or hug him. for him to look in your eyes, and just look blank.. nothing.. no expression.. just the look of wonder, of searching, but no remembrance..

Anyway.. so, hours left to our flight.. thank god I am flying with "my baby"..
we have a disastrous connection to DC.. hours of waiting at JFK..
it is going to be a hard trip.. but thanks to Mama&Papa we are flying classy.. they gave us a gift :)
so.. last hours in istanbul:
I am in my room, blabbing..
Mama is in her room sleeping..
Papa is downstairs, watching TV and if I know him half asleep already..

this pic is on our way back home from grandma..
sad sad me!

I have to say goodbye to all of my friends.. I just miss them a lot when I am away..
but one has to get used to being separated..

so, goodbye istanbul and it's residents..
goodbye mama and papa..
i love you!
i miss you!(already, all the time)

on saturday (8.28); mama, papa and I went to this new restaurant.. (it might not be that new, I am no longer an expert on timeliness for Istanbul venues.
We went to X restaurant at IKSV.. It's located at the rooftop, so sees this amazing view that is hard to explain! no words are enough to describe it to you..
the menu was quite incredible also..
I loved the combination of flavors..
it's a must go place.. please let me know if you need any contact info!

delicatessen

Yesterday (8.26) mama and papa wanted to take me to a new place that I've never been before - for dinner.. to try something different.. try something they like.. since I am away from Istanbul so much, I can never keep up with the new places, locations that open up..
each time I come back, I am welcomed with new names, new menus to try..(I love it)
So, we went to a place called "delicatessen"
and by chance I had my camera with me.. I asked our waiter if it was OK for me to take photos, and she said yes..
without waiting a second, I started shooting flashes all around..
I caught the attention of a really nice lady..
turned out that she was the owner.. and by chance, she graduated from the university that I attend to..
small world!
AMAZING FOOD! I have to say! if you come to Istanbul, you should stop by!

Dear Delicatessen,
thank you for a warm welcome, a professional service, a wonderfully delicious meal..
the personnel was really nice, the food was really delicious, and the ambiance was incredible..

let's take a walk

We took a walk by the Bosphorus on saturday.. I just miss it so much when I'm away from Istanbul and we thought it might be a good idea since the weather was wonderful..
but I have to say-it was so hot! it might be summer but it's just more than hot!
my hair color has changed drastically this summer.. I thought it was brown with a hint of highlights.. not so much anymore!
